Prince and Princess of Wales made an introduction to the couple.
Even though the Prince and Princess of Wales are surrounded by a close-knit group of friends, their inner circle has recently grown slightly. That is the time period following the birth of a son, Thomas van Straubenzee and Lucy’s second child.
Albert was born to Van Straubenzee and Lucy, a teacher at George and Charlotte’s old school Thomas’s and godfather to Princess Charlotte. Van Straubenzee is also a childhood friend of Princes William and Harry.
The pair, who were matched up by the Prince and Princess of Wales and wed in July 2020, also have a daughter named Mary who is now two. The Van Straubenzees were welcomed to Sandringham’s church in July 2020 as a token of their respected status in the royal family’s life.
Friend said of the newborn: “He’s a healthy little lad and weighs 9lb 8oz.” Richard Eden of the Daily Mail quoted friend as saying. His middle name, Fenwick, was chosen in honour of Thomas’ great-uncle, Major Ian Fenwick, a hero of the SAS during World War II. Albert is the name they have given him.
Since their time at high school at Berkshire’s Ludgrove, Thomas Van Straubenzee and his brother Charlie have known Prince William and Prince Harry. During William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011, Charlie gave a speech. Both brothers served as ushers during Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May 2018. Charlie’s wedding to Daisy Jenks in August 2018 had Prince Harry as the best man as well.
Thomas and Lucy were introduced by William and Kate, who also served as matchmakers. Lucy works as a teacher at Thomas’s Clapham, a Battersea school that Prince George and Princess Charlotte attended before the family moved to Berkshire.
In 2013, at St. Michael’s Church in Alnwick, in a ceremony known as “the Royal Wedding of the North,” Van Straubenzee married Lady Melissa “Missy” Percy for the first time. This marriage was the second marriage for Van Straubenzee. Immediately after, in 2016, they got divorced.
Just a few friends and family members attended Thomas and Lucy’s July 2020 wedding at Chelsea Old Church. Thomas is an estate agent with Knight Frank. In April, at the height of the epidemic in Europe, when their wedding was originally scheduled, Princess Charlotte was meant to play the lead role of the flower girl. As a result, that part was never played by Charlotte.
