ASSOCIATED PRESS (AP) – According to Elon Musk’s statement from Tuesday, he intends to continue leading Twitter until he can identify a suitable candidate to take his place.
Musk’s declaration followed a non-scientific poll that the billionaire himself sponsored and vowed to uphold in which millions of Twitter users begged him to resign.
When I find someone naive enough to accept the position, I’ll step down as CEO. In a tweet, Musk. “After that, I’ll merely manage the servers & software teams,” she said.
Musk’s tenure as Twitter’s CEO has been characterised by hastily announced regulations and procedures that are frequently withdrawn or amended shortly after being made public. Musk assumed control of the San Francisco-based company in late October.
Additionally, because Twitter is consuming too much of his time, he has alienated some Tesla investors who are worried about the company’s future.
Advertisers on Twitter are uneasy about some of Musk’s moves, and users are disinterested. A council of trust and safety advisors that Twitter established in 2016 to handle hate speech, child exploitation, suicide, self-harm, and other issues on the site has been disbanded. Other changes include letting rid of contract content moderators and half of Twitter’s workers.
Finding a replacement for Musk as CEO of Twitter will be challenging, according to Musk, who also runs the SpaceX rocket company.
The person taking over for him “must like suffering a lot,” he joked with Twitter users last Sunday, to lead a business that has been “in the fast lane to bankruptcy.”
No one is interested in the position that would genuinely keep Twitter alive. No successor exists, Musk wrote on Twitter.
Since he owns the platform, Musk would still have a significant amount of influence over it. Soon after assuming leadership, he dismissed the board of directors.
