Explorer Christopher Columbus’ statue in Mexico’s capital Mexico City will be replaced by that of an indigenous woman, Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said on Sunday. The statue was taken down last year from Paseo de la Reforma ahead of an annual protest. It’s to make way for a monument that delivers “social justice” regarding women’s historic role in Mexico, Sheinbaum added.
