Tokyo police arrests a man who was brandishing his knife. In the process, he set ablaze a train on fire.
The incident, authorities said, happened around 8 p.m. (7 a.m. ET) on a train on the Keio Railroad line, NHK reported. The train was in service near Kokuryo Station in Chofu City, west of Tokyo.
The suspect also allegedly poured the liquid into the car, which he then set on fire. At least eight people were injured, NHK reported, citing police. One of the victims, a man in his 60s, was seriously injured and unconscious, NHK said. Police said a 20-year-old man with a knife had been taken into custody, NHK said.
The train operator said in a tweet that the operation of the train had been halted due to the accident.
