Matt Brown, the editor of a college athletics newsletter called “Extra Points,” reported Monday night that the state of Missouri might be in the mix to move on to the US conference.
Brown was a trusted source for news of The Conference. He was the first to report that Belmont is on his way to the Missouri Valley Conference.
Missouri State hasn’t said anything since the report. Bears’ sporting director Kyle Moats was due to meet the media on Thursday evening as part of the men’s and women’s basketball media day.
Moving to Conference USA would mean moving from FCS to FBS and the opportunity to bring more money to athletics and college through the soccer program. Given the bears’ recent successes on the field, the idea of football isn’t far-fetched.
