Utama, Alejandro Loayza Grisi’s artistic response to the global climate crisis, won the Golden Crow Pheasant (Suvarna Chakoram) for the Best Film at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) here on Friday. Tayfun Pirselimoglu won the Rajatha Chakoram for Best Director, Firas Khouri’s “Alam” won the Best Debut Award, and Manipuri filmmaker Romi The movie focuses on an old couple’s and their grandson’s battle to survive an exceptionally protracted drought in the Bolivian highlands.
At the closing ceremony held in the Nishagandhi auditorium, Minister for Cultural Affairs V.N. Vasavan presented the award to the movie’s producer Santiago Loayza Grisi, the filmmaker’s brother, along with a monetary reward of 20 lakh, a souvenir, and a diploma. The Silver Crow Pheasant (Rajatha Chakoram) award for Best Director went to Tayfun Pirselimoglu.
